A cigarette anyone?

Hmm what do u do when u come across an unmissable advert which shows a graphic image of a cigarette dripping with "fatty stuff".. where the cigarette represents the fat that can build up in arteries? Yep, I’ve seen this one n not once but several times where the explicit image links a cigarette with the image of fat in the artery (which could eventually lead to coronary heart disease), serving as a reminder of the dangers of smoking every time a smoker picks up a cigarette.
In a bid to force smokers to give up smoking the British Health Foundation unveiled this hard-hitting anti-smoking campaign with the slogan ‘We’ll help u give up before u clog up’. This £4 million campaign was splattered (n still continues) over TV, newspaper and poster/billboard advertising as well as beer mats distributed in pubs throughout England.

Apparantly, this strong and repulsive image seems to have done wonders as statistics prove a total of 10,000 people called the smoking healthline for help and 62,000 have visited its website, with the awareness increasing each day. It is estimated that those visiting the site also spent an average of nine minutes 19 seconds on it, compared with an average of five minutes for other sites.

It is interesting to note how powerful adverts like these act as a visual wake-up call to people about the dangers of smoking & it sure is encouraging to see they motivate long time smokers to quit as well.
To take a peek at the advert check out http://www.bhf.org.uk/ and once the image downloads completely click on it to view on n see what I mean!!
To the non smokers – Happy Viewin!
And to the Smokers – well.. A Happy attempt at QUITTIN! :)
